Licensing
There are 3 license types available. The license USB key, the software license and the cloud license.
USB key license
The license USB key is the standard license of SQL4automation. Its advantage lies in easy transfer of the license from one PC to another. For example, if one PC is used for testing purposes, and a different one is used later on at the production line, the license can be easily transferred. Also exchanging the hard disk as a consequence of service and maintenance does not pose any problems. The license is located on an external hardware USB key.
The license on a USB key can be updated. Via [License - Get License Update File] a *.c2v file is created. This file must be sent by the customer to info@sql4automation.com. After that, the customer receives a *.v2c file, which is loaded onto the USB key via [License - Insert License Key].
Caution: The license is always updated on the Connector which is connected to the Config Tool. This means that the license can be updated via network. The customer bears the sole responsibility that the license is updated on the correct Connector, and that the USB key is not disconnected during the writing process, or the connection between Config Tool and Connector is interrupted.
Software license
The software license should only be used if the use of a license USB key is not possible.
Caution: A software license cannot be transferred from one PC to another.
A software license can be obtained as follows: Via [License - Get Hardware Fingerprint] a *.c2v file is created. This file must be sent by the customer to info@sql4automation.com. After that, the customer receives a *.v2c file which is loaded onto the Connector via [License - Insert License Key].
The software license can be updated. Via [License - Get License Update File] a *.c2v file is created. This file must be sent by the customer to info@sql4automation.com. After that, the customer receives a *.v2c file which is loaded onto the Connector via [License - Insert License Key].

Cloud license
The license server is hosted by Thales/Sentinel on a highly available server. The cloud license can be accessed via this server. This enables to move the SQL4automation Connector to any location without any licensing issues. Cloud licensing is particularly practical for virtual machines in a cluster server.

Cloud licensing is only possible in combination with a maintenance contract.
